To say that November was another busy month may sound repetitive, but it was, and I suspect I’ll be saying the same thing each month for the next few years. Here are the November highlights (including some non-ACRL activities)
- I presented at the Internet Librarian International Conference in London. The presentation was about Web Scale Discovery Services and the Princeton University Library’s decision to implement a hybrid Primo-Summon solution.
- I attended the Access Services Conference in Atlanta. The folks at the Atlanta-area schools that plan this conference, once again, did such a great job at putting on a great program.
- I have made the final appointments to the ACRL 2014 President’s Program Planning Committee. Deb Malone (DeSales University and past-president of the Pennsylvania Library Association) and Adi Redzic (Managing Director at the iOme Challenge) will co-chair the committee. Other members are Susan Barnes-Whyte, Ted Chaffin, Merinda Kaye Hensley, and Leroy LaFleur. I mentioned in an earlier post that I will provide more information about the program, and will do so in a separate post soon.
- Mary Ellen Davis (ACRL Executive Director) and I attended a symposium for the Chief Staff and Chief Elected Officers of non-profit associations. The “CEO Symposium,” sponsored by the Center for Association Leadership, provides the means for the leaders to work more effectively together in helping the association think more strategically about setting and achieving its goals.
- The ACRL Presidents continue to meet regularly and we have been working on our agenda for the Board meetings as well as the Leadership Council for the upcoming ALA Midwinter Meeting in Seattle.
- I participated in a strategic planning session for New Jersey statewide library services.
